A new UI for Desktop Messaging

Mobispine is right now in the middle of implementing the next generation of Desktop Messaging. We're now looking on new ways of presenting the main window layout and we need some user feedback. What do you think about the following three cases? Which one is best, and why?

Alternative 1 (above): The existing layout from current client.

Alternative 2(above): New proposal

Alternative 3(above): New proposal

All 3 of them look quite fresh. Personally I prefer No3 thanks to the contacts to the left with most recent activity.

There are a lot of features planned that are not illustrated by these images; option 3 has the most flexibility for the near future... multiple sources of contacts; distribution lists; toggling views of history; slick MMS composition.

Hi,

Definately alt 3. This because it carries all the options that I would require as an advanced messaging user but also the basics.

Number 3 for me too. The contacts/address book is a key leverage point for the future. Also the conversational view of messages is very current.

Contact list of recent contacts is very useful functionality. I would prefer Alt.3.

I vote for the #3!

To me this looks just like a simple web page. My idea would be to use a simple c++ browser plugin in witch we can run the web client. Almost all functionalities of desktop client can be run in a browser – that is platform independent, more secure, reliable and cuts development time since we shut many rabbits with one bullet. Regards.

No 3 looks good to me. I would like to see folder capability being available for sent messages, distribution lists etc. Basically all the folder capability that you would have with desktop text for Outlook. Also as an operator I would like the ability at server level to restrict the volume of messages that are allowed at a default level which can then be increased on a case by case basis. There should also be an option to order the address book alphabetically along with the sent items folders as well as most recently used contacts or folders etc.

thanks all for the valuable feedback of our new UI. We work on it to make it happen sooner than later and the feedback definiteley pointed out alternative 3 as the winner.
